Good Friday Concert to Benefit Earthquake Victims — free and open to all
The Chiara String Quartet will offer Haydn’s Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross at Trinity Church on Good Friday, April 2, at 5:30.
Called “A superb Quartet” by NY Times Music Critic Allan Kozinn, the Chiara is one of America’s leading young quartets. Haydn’s Seven Last Words is a series of wordless meditations on Christ’s Passion, originally composed for a Good Friday meditation in Grotto Santa Cueva near Cadiz in southern Spain. The work lasts approximately 75 minutes and will be presented without intermission, the seven movements interspersed with readings from the story of Christ’s passion. A free-will offering will be received and given to Episcopal Relief and Development for the benefit of earthquake victims in Haiti and Chile. This event is sponsored by the Trinity Boston Foundation (www.trinityinspires.org). For more information about the Chiara Quartet, please visit: www.chiaraquartet.net.
